First Capitol Trading: The Best Loungefly and Jim Shore Selection in St. Louis

When I took my family to Disney World in 2024, my daughter used some of her own earned money to buy a Loungefly. She’d been interested in the brand for a while and had even picked up one of the clever imitations Aldi was selling ahead of our trip. Still, there’s no substitute for the real thing, and when she found one she liked for a reasonably low price, she picked it up.

When we got back to St. Louis after the trip, she (and the rest of the family) had to deal with coming out of the Disney Bubble. One small way we did that was to find moments of magic in and around St. Louis. Unfortunately, while you can find Disney accessories in some big box and department stores around town, there are no longer Disney stores in STL. The nearest right now is down in Branson. Those big box and department stores don’t do, say, Loungefly.

There is a store in the St. Louis region, though, that carries Loungefly, including some Disney. That store also carries Jim Shore collectables. And it’s not hard to get to.

Getting There

First Capitol Trading, 207 S. Main Street (Google Maps link) sits in the heart of Historic Main Street St. Charles, just a stone’s throw from the Missouri River. It’s on the west side of the road, the side farthest from the river, just across the street from the Visitor’s Center and the First Capitol State Historic Site. While it’s big enough and has clear signage, it’s still easy to miss just because so many of the buildings have that similar brick structure.

Most people will travel to Historic Main Street by way of I-70 to northbound Fifth Street. You can also weave your way into the area from 370 by taking the Third Street exit and heading southbound.

Parking

There is parking all around Historic Main Street. Our favorite parking places are the lots on Riverside Drive, a block over from Main Street. These lots are free to park and there are usually plenty of spaces outside of busy times. In a pinch, you can also park in the large lot farther south at the Lewis and Clark Boat House and Museum.

Additionally, you can park on Main Street itself, including right next to First Capitol Trading. These parallel parking spots aren’t always the easiest to find or get in and out of, but they are closer.

As of mid-2025, the store runs the following hours:

  • Sunday: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Monday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.

The store may be closed on some holidays.

You can call the store during business hours at 636-946-2883 or contact them outside of business hours via their contact page. First Capitol is also an authorized online Pandora retailer.

As a family-owned, locally owned business, you may not get some of the occasional discounts that you might see with larger retailers. The flip side is that you’re supporting a local business who can ship things to you if needed.

Things to Do

First Capitol Trading carries a wide number of brands. They include, but are not limited to:

  • Loungefly. This store carries the best Loungefly selection we know of in St. Louis. There is plenty of Disney to be had here, spanning all things Princess, Winnie the Pooh, and Disney’s other big franchises, Star Wars and Marvel. You can also find the likes of Pokémon, Peanuts, Hello Kitty, and, in a local twist, the St. Louis Cardinals.

  • Jim Shore. These collectable figurines are meticulously detailed, and First Capitol Trading has a solid stock that includes Disney and various other franchises.

  • Pandora. The store keeps a stock of Pandora jewelry in the store.
  • Wee Forest Folk. You can find a large selection of these miniatures.
  • Jellycat. We saw a number of displays of these popular plush toys.

Our Thoughts

(Photo: Joshua Johnston | St. Louis Roamer)

We’ve visited the store a number of times and we’ve always appreciated the staff climate, which is attentive without being pushy. If we have questions, they answer them, and about any number of things.

We realize that, in this day and age, price is a major factor in purchases. That said, a lot of what this store sells is so popular that the items aren’t discounted in other places, either, so what you pay at First Capitol Trading is often close to what you’d pay on the likes of Amazon. Even in those rare times where there is a price difference, there is the benefit of getting to 1) support a local business, 2) see it with your own eyes before buying, and 3) not having to wait if you buy it right there in the store.

At the very least, if you’re a fan of certain niche brands like Loungefly, Jim Shore, or others like Wee Forest Folk, First Capitol Trading is absolutely worth a drop-in just to see what they have to offer.

  1. Really appreciate this write-up! I help run First Capitol Trading, and you nailed exactly what we aim for: creating a place where Disney fans actually have somewhere to go in St. Louis.

Since there isn’t a Disney Store here anymore, we try to bring in as much Disney… Loungefly, Jim Shore figurines, Pandora charms… and anything else we can get, because we want to be the spot for anyone who loves Disney.

Thank you for the kind words about our team and what we carry. We love what we do, and it means a lot when someone “gets” it.

Big thanks to St. Louis Roamer and Joshua for taking the time to visit and share our story. Hope to see some fellow Disney fans on Main Street!
