How Much Does it Cost to Park at Six Flags St. Louis?

EDITOR’S NOTE: Updated for 2026.

Six Flags St. Louis — soon to be called Mid-America by Enchanted Parks — is the largest amusement park in the St. Louis area, and it’s really the only one of its kind in the metro. If you want another theme park of this size, you’ll have to go to Holiday World in Indiana, Silver Dollar City in Branson, or Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, all three to four hours away.

Most people know that you’re going to have to pay to go to Six Flags. This isn’t Forest Park, after all. You’re going to have to pay for tickets. Food and drink are in there, too, although you can alternatively pack your own cooler and eat out on the grassy medians in the parking lot.

And then there’s parking.

Now, some theme parks don’t charge for parking. Holiday World famously offers free parking alongside free soft drinks and free sunscreen. Silver Dollar City also lets you park for free.

Six Flags does not. You do have to pay. But how much?

Parking Options and Prices

Six Flags St. Louis has two categories of parking: General Parking and Preferred Parking.

General Parking takes up most of the park’s very large parking lot. As of 2026, Six Flags St. Louis charges a total of around $17 to park. It’s worth noting that this is about $13 less than what Six Flags St. Louis charged in 2025 — a result of the park being under new management.

The General Parking area has many car spots, but it also includes a lot section for buses and RVs. There are a handful of EV charging stations along the end of several rows of this lot.

Preferred Parking takes up a small section at the front entrance to the park. In 2026, the cost of preferred parking is a little over $10 more than in 2025, another consequence of new ownership.

Six Flags Parking 2 - Preferred
The total cost to buy a Preferred Parking pass at Six Flags St. Louis in 2026. With taxes, the total cost is $50.40.

To get into Preferred Parking, you’ll need to show proof to a worker manning a station at the preferred parking entrance.

Is There a Way to Park For Free?

There are a couple of ways, actually.

One, you can stay at the Holiday Inn at Six Flags. The hotel offers free shuttles to and from Six Flags, or you can walk to the park using the sidewalk system in place leading from the hotel. Most locals probably won’t do this, but if you’re coming from out of town, it certainly is an option.

Two, you can get a season pass or season membership. All season passes and season memberships include unlimited free parking. If you purchased season passes or memberships before Enchanted Parks purchased Six Flags St. Louis, your Silver Season Passes, Gold Season Passes, and Gold Memberships include free General Parking, while Prestige Passes and Prestige Memberships include free Preferred Parking. If you purchased season passes after the Enchanted Parks acquisition, the Enchanted Hero Pass comes with General Parking and the Enchanted Legend Pass comes with Preferred Parking.

Side note: in the past, the best value has been to get Gold Passes during the pre-Labor Day sale, which in 2025 was $55 a person. We’ve broken down the costs in a separate post, but suffice to say that four season passes on this deal isn’t all that much more than single day tickets and parking for a family of four, and if you go twice the season passes come out way ahead. We do not know if those kinds of deals will be offered under Enchanted Parks ownership.

Is Preferred Parking Worth Getting?

Preferred Parking is closer. There’s that. If you have significant mobility issues or other health concerns, there could be an argument for Preferred Parking.

The thing is, General Parking starts right behind the last row of Preferred Parking, and it’s not usually overcrowded. If you get to the park, say, at opening, you stand a very good chance of getting a parking spot not all that far from the Preferred Section. Even if you get to the park in the afternoon on a weekend — often the busiest time at the park — you can still find ample General Parking, and you won’t be walking more than, say, 5 minutes from your car to the entrance. Disney World this is not.

Closing Thoughts

We’re not huge fans of the fact that Six Flags charges for parking. It creates a bottleneck getting into the park and can be an unexpected expense for people coming to the park on a spur-of-the-moment day trip.

That said, there are workarounds to the cost, at least. Season Passes are the best option, in our view, and if you get the new Enchanted Hero Passes (formerly Gold Passes) at the right time the value is undeniable, especially if you go more than once. Keep that in mind if you have plans to visit Six Flags St. Louis.
