Mid Rivers Mall: An Indoor Shopping Center in St. Charles County

I spent much of my childhood in St. Charles County, including all of my middle and high school years in the Wentzville area. The county — Wentzville especially — was less populated and built-up in those days, even if there were signs of the expansion that would come later. In those days, shopping was harder to come by; if you wanted lots of it, you had to drive into St. Louis County.

Mid Rivers Mall, which opened in 1987, changed that. The largest shopping center in St. Charles, it was also centrally located enough to be accessible to those living in the western side of the county, including Lake St. Louis and Wentzville. Today, Mid Rivers is owned by CBL Properties, which also owns nearby West County Center and South County Center. While the era of indoor malls has faded in the face of the internet, Mid Rivers persists as a hub for St. Charles shopping.

Getting There

Mid Rivers Mall (Google Maps link) is located in St. Peters. The mall is just south of I-70 and just west of MO-370, making it easy to get to from St. Louis County or much of St. Charles County. (It’s a little more indirect to get to from the more recently developed corridors in southern St. Charles County.) Many drivers will exit I-70 before heading south on Mid Rivers Mall Drive and turning left into the mall.

Parking

As is the case with many indoor malls, there is parking in orbit around the mall, with multiple entrances into the building. The parking lots are quite large, and we’ve never had much trouble finding a spot, even on busy days. All parking, as you might expect, is free.

Costs and Considerations

The mall is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Mall hours may vary during holidays. Also keep in mind that individual stores may open later or close sooner than the mall itself. The Dillard’s Clearance Store, for example, doesn’t open until noon and is closed entirely on Mondays.

Things to Do

Mid Rivers is, first and foremost, a shopping center. Here you can find retailers of all kinds of categories. There are the usual suspects in clothing, including including H&M, Hot Topic, and American Eagle Outfitters. You’ve got accessories stores like Claire’s and Finish Line. Other categories include media (V-Stock), home accessories (Pub Decor), jewelry (St. Louis Fine Jewelry) and beauty products (Bath and Body Works). More niche retailers include Midwest Music and Haha Anime and Games.

There are currently three anchor stores — Dillard’s Clearance, Macy’s, and J.C. Penney — and there are standalone Planet Fitness and Best Buy buildings on the east side of the property.

There are a handful of other storefronts not specifically dedicated to retail, including charitable organizations Kids Against Hunter on the first floor and the Disabled Athlete Sports Association on the second floor. We also spotted retailers for glasses and hair care.

Growing up, I remember Mid Rivers hosting a robust food court. That food court is smaller now (and there’s no arcade like there was in the old days) but you can still get the likes of Charley’s Philly Steaks and Panda Express on the lower level.

Last, but not least, Mid Rivers houses Marcus Cinemas, which has multiple screens, including 3D offerings.

Our Thoughts

Malls aren’t quite the same compared to their pre-internet heyday, but Mid Rivers maintains a respectable presence in the mall. As of early 2026, there are plenty of stores to shop in. It’s an open space, too, that makes for a nice place to walk on a bad weather day.

It’s not a busy mall, which is either good or bad depending on how you look at it. We’ve been there on Saturdays and even then it’s rarely all that crowded — we’re not sure what that means for retailers but it does make it easy to navigate as a shopper.

Regardless, if you’re looking for clothes, a movie to watch, or just a place to get your steps in, Mid Rivers remains a pretty solid choice in the St. Louis metro area.
